Royal pardon granted to Aussie drone flyer

Mr. James Ricketson, the Australian convicted for using drone to spy on Cambodia, was granted a royal pardon signed by Mr. Say Chhum, President of the Senate of Cambodia, on September 21st.

On June 7th, 2017, Mr. Ricketson flew a camera-drone to take pictures over the Capital Phnom Penh. He was arrested on June 9th, 2017. He was accused for spying in Cambodia following Article 446 of the Cambodia Criminal Code. Later, on August 31st 2018, he was convicted for doing so by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to six years behind bars.
